SARAO opens the doors to a rediscovered world: the Spanish villancicos of the 18th century. In this vibrant musical style, theatre, dance and folk energy come together in a sounding portrait of the festive culture of the time. The programme brings together works by Juan Francés de Iribarren in Málaga and Diego Pérez de Camino in Santo Domingo de la Calzada—two Baroque composers whose colourful music reflects a rich yet long-overlooked tradition. Opera Omnia, under the direction of violinist Isaac M. Pulet, specialises in rediscovering the Spanish and Ibero-American Baroque heritage. With stylistic freedom, vitality and strong commitment, they breathe new life into a golden repertoire that refreshes our modern ears. Olé!
